Penns Cave

Entrance of the tour.

The shark fin formatin.

Jason and I took the kids to Penns Cave. It is an all water cave. You take the tour by boat. It was really neat. The cave stays at 52 degrees all year round. There is a legend that goes along with the cave. I took a picture of the story. You may be able to blow up the picture and read it. There are four large "rooms" inside. During the winter months, there are thousands of bats that hibernate inside the cave. During the summer, they leave. They do tours during the winter so you can see the bats. I don't need to see that. Gross!! Lydia and Marshall loved it inside. Although Lydia, not surprisingly, was nervous before getting on the boat. She was worried that we would run out of gas and get stuck. We told her we would just have to swim out. The water is a warm 38 degrees. Not too bad, right?? But once we were on the boat and going, she was just fine and her normal talkative self. We were in the front of the boat next to the tour guide and she had questions for him. He didn't seem to mind answering them. What a sport. There were many neat formations and it is amazing to see what nature can accomplish over thousands of years.
